Of the many jobs I’ve had, the final one lasted for over thirty years. With one title or another, I was a systems analyst for financial software, followed by medical software and devices.
I love historical fiction, where I can learn something as well as be completely entertained. My favorite fabulous authors in that genre are Edward Rutherfurd, Ken Follett, and James A. Michener. Any of James Alexander Thom novels based on true events are particularly good, especially Follow the River. For historical biographies, I love anything by Elie Wiesel. And Benjamin Franklin: An American Life by Walter Isaacson is a terrific biography of a founding father.
Unknown fact about me: I love to sketch in pencil. It’s amazing how shadowing or a small smudge can add beauty and character.
I regret that I didn’t learn how to write sooner. It’s completely fulfilling. It’s also the most frustrating experience I’ve ever completely embraced, much like raising puppies or kids.
